St. Kilian’s Junior School participated in National Maths Week from Monday, October 17th to Friday 21st October. There were many events planned for the week, with an emphasis on maths for fun.
Monday, 17th October: All classes participated in maths classes outdoors and  completed their maths assignments with chalk on the ground in the yard.
Tuesday, 18th October: Children brought a maths related game to school e.g Snakes and Ladders, Connect 4, Jenga, Monopoly, Uno or games with a maths element.
Wednesday, 19th October: Maths Art Day – children  experienced maths through the medium of art with lots of class based activities.
Thursday, 20th October: Our Cake Sale. This day focused on money.
Friday 21st October. Maths Trail Day – all classes followed a fun maths trail around the school grounds, looking for maths all around them.

The children were also engaged in many fun activities to help their mental maths, and they were encouraged through ‘maths eyes’ lessons to look out for maths, number, shapes, data, pattern etc. in the environment. They participated in maths rhymes, stories, songs and maths computer games. They had a lot of fun every morning with various estimation challenges.
