Please see our posting from last October when volunteers from Sap and Aramark visited our school and worked with the children on our planting committee to plant an array of vegetables in raised beds on our school grounds https://www.stkiliansjns.ie/planting-initiative/
The volunteers returned on Friday 23rd May to harvest the vegetables with the children.
See photos of the harvest below;
Gavin and Kevin returned on Monday 26th May for the cooking demonstration. Gavin, a wonderful chef, showed the children how to prepare the vegetables for cooking and made a big pot of soup using carrots, parsnips, onions, leeks, celery and herbs from the school garden. The children could see the vegetables they harvested being used and got to taste Gavin’s delicious soup once it was cooked. Gavin also prepared a wonderful salad using other items from the garden. The children really enjoyed their plates of salad as soon as all the work was done. Our sincerest thanks to Gavin, Kevin, Peter and all at Sap and Aramark for including our school in this lovely initiative, it was wonderful to see children eating and enjoying the food.
