Fun in the Forest and at the Farm for Science Week.

All the children had great fun during science week. This year we focused on the curriculum strand of living things and the boys and girls had great fun exploring our woodland area on our school grounds. They played games in the forest, went on minibeast and bug hunts, explored the leaves and trees of the woodland area, used nature to design and make compasses and made some bird feeders using pine cones, porridge and fruit. A big hit was the hot chocolate that all the children enjoyed at the end of their activities!

The mobile farm from Agri-aware visited our school also this is a unique outdoor classroom where the children can interact with and feed farm animals. They had great fun with the pigs (Peppa and George), Popcorn the goat, donkeys, hens, geese and chickens.

Lots of other science activities went on throughout the week also. You can see Rm. 1 and Rm. 9 making lava lamps and exploring the effects of sugar on teeth. Rm. 14 also experimented with lava lamps and investigated what might happen when different liquids come together. A special word of thanks to Ms. Lagan who organised and set up all the activities, the children really enjoyed the week. See photos below:
