Engineering Week 2023

Engineering Week 2023

Engineering Week took place in St. Kilian’s JS from the 6th to the 10th of March. Our visiting engineer Tom Murray gave a very informative presentation to second class on the work of an engineer. All of our second classes had the opportunity to create a circuit using copper tape, LED lights and batteries for their St. Patrick Day cards.

All classes participated in a schoolwide engineering competition during the week. All the boys and girls had great fun taking part and designing and testing bridges made from spaghetti, designing marshmallow and spaghetti 3D shapes, building bowling alleys, horse jumps, robots, making and racing paper planes, designing marble runs and building skyscrapers and cities from lego!

A big congratulations to room 16, Ms. Lehane’s class who won the competition for their fantastic ziplines. Many thanks to Tom for all his work with us during engineering week and to Ms. Lagan, our STEM coordinator for all the organisation involved. See Photos of all our activities below.
