St. Kilian’s Junior School successfully undertook the Active Break Every Day Challenge from Monday 13th November to Friday 8th December. Each class completed an Olympic Movement Break every day. Olympic Movement Breaks are a series of 20 short videos led by Olympians and high-performance athletes demonstrating fun exercises and activities that students of all abilities can do. The short videos, across a variety of different sports including athletics, boxing, rugby sevens, swimming, breakdancing, and para powerlifting, help generate classroom-based movement opportunities.
Active School Flag Slogan Competition
The ASF Committee held a slogan competition in December. All children were invited to write a slogan that would encourage our whole school community to get physically educated and physically active. Well done to all those who entered the competition – the standard of entries was very high! The winner was Isabelle McDonagh Madden from Room 14. Isabelle was presented with a Smyth’s Toy Store voucher by Max and Eimear from the ASF Committee. Isabelle’s slogan will be displayed in all our classrooms and in our school hall. Well done Isabelle!
