Conall Byrne Memorial Art Competition

The Conall Byrne Memorial Art Competition is held in the school every year around Easter time to celebrate the life of Conall, a past pupil, who passed away in September 2009. Conall was a warm, friendly, happy little boy who touched the hearts of all who knew him. We always remember him with great fondness and affection at St.Kilians.

Theme for 2020: “Hats”

The theme for the 2020 competition was “Hats”.  Children were invited to work on their art entries at home with their parents and family members based on this broad theme. This year’s competition was different to other years because of Covid 19. We had to choose a winner from entries that arrived to school before the school was closed on March 12th. All children who entered by 12th March were given a highly commended certificate and an Easter egg.

There were some wonderful hats and many can be seen in the photos below. The two overall winners received Smyths vouchers, art sets and certificates and will have their names engraved on the memorial plaque.

The winner of the Infant category was Hallie Kennedy from Ms.Gillespie’s class in Junior Infants for her fabulous Mad Hatter’s hat. Well done Hallie!

The winner of the First/Second Class category was Holly Tobin from Ms.Carr’s second class for her wonderful “Honey I’m Home” hat. Great work Holly!

Sincere thanks to all the families who participated.
